16:00 - 20:00

מיקום: Shalma Rd 46, Tel Aviv

Beit Tefilah Israeli and the "Standing Together" movement invite you to a joint Kabbalat Shabbat with asylum seekers and residents of South Tel Aviv.

This is not an ordinary Kabbalat Shabbat, but rather an invitation to raise an important Jewish/Israeli/civilian voice in favor of the proper treatment of those who seek refuge and asylum who are among us and helpless against the "voluntary" deportation.
On this Shabbat, Shabbat Parshat Mishpatim, we read the passage "And you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the feelings of the stranger, since you were strangers in the land of Egypt".

This Shabbat will also be a reminder of the Exodus from Egypt. Our past as strangers, as refugees, requires us to act today for the sake of those today -- because we also were there and therefore "we know the soul of the stranger.

Kabbalat Shabbat will be led by Rabbi Esteban Gottfried along with musicians from Beit Tefilah Israeli and members from the asylum seekers' community. You are also invited to bring your own instrument. During Kabbalat Shabbat, we will hear stories from asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan, and we will present opportunities to take part in the struggle. Among other things, we will sing, play music and pray together.
