Jivamukti Yoga

Jivamukti is a physical and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous vinyasa and hatha-based style. It is centered around five main themes: ahimsa (non violence to oneself and others), shastra (study of scriptures and the self), bhakti (devotion), nada (deep listening and music), and dhyana (meditiation).

Jivamukti offers a deeply spiritual experience, but don’t underestimate the asana practice– sweaty and challenging, playful and rewarding. A Jivamukti class presents the opportunity to go deeper into oneself, connecting to the eternal unchanging reality within. The name Jivamukti comes from the Sanskrit word jivanmuktih, wherein jiva is the individual living soul, and mukti is liberation from the cycle and death and rebirth. Thus the Jivamukti method means ‘liberation while living’.

Created by David Life and Sharon Gannon in 1984, the Jivamukti Yoga method is known for its flowing, artistic, and intelligent vinyasa sequencing.
