Mysore Yoga (Ashtanga)

Mysore Yoga (Ashtanga)

Group practice guided by a teacher is an important class that helps us learn the foundations of Ashtanga yoga. However, alongside group practice, it is also recommended to practice independently — as a further step toward making yoga a way of life that enriches and heals body and mind. In the early stages of learning it can be difficult to practice alone and sometimes questions arise and support is needed. For this purpose, the "Mysore" style of practice developed — private practice, but within a group, with individual guidance from an instructor.

The practice is suitable for complete beginners and highly advanced practitioners alike — everyone practices individually and together, in a quiet and supportive atmosphere.

Mysore style is a tradition of Ashtanga yoga practice, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the city of Mysore in southern India. The difference between this style and other classes is that this is not a method of general class guidance (Led Class), but individual — verbal and physical — guidance that each practitioner in the group receives according to their needs.

If practitioners are experiencing difficulty or a challenge with a particular pose, there is the possibility to offer support and alternatives in a deeper and more thorough way than in other classes. The practitioner will be able to advance in their personal practice more than in guided group classes, where the class is more suited to the general whole and less to the individual.

Complete beginners and advanced practitioners are all welcome to take part in such a wonderful start to the day. You can come on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between seven-thirty (there is the option of coming even earlier by arrangement with the teacher) and ten o'clock, for any desired duration (even half an hour or a quarter of an hour, depending on your physical state that day).

At the end of practice one is filled with new energy and feels refreshed and at peace. There is no better way to start the day!
